Personal accident insurance FAQ.

General guidance only. The application, policy, terms, clauses and written agreements are decisive.

What counts as an accident?

The accident definition in the relevant policy wording is decisive. A suddenly noticed complaint is not automatically an insured accident.

Does accident insurance pay for every injury?

No. The event must meet the contractual accident definition and trigger an agreed benefit.

Why is the disability sum important?

It is the financial basis of the disability benefit. High progression cannot compensate for a low base sum in every loss scenario.

What is progression?

Progression increases the benefit at higher disability levels according to the contractual scale.

What is a benefit schedule?

It assigns percentages to loss or functional impairment of specified body parts and sensory organs.

Are leisure accidents covered?

Personal accident policies are typically designed for round-the-clock cover, subject to the actual exclusions and special-risk provisions.

Is motorsport automatically covered?

No. Motorsport, racetracks and comparable risks may be subject to exclusions or special agreements.

Which deadlines apply after an accident?

Deadlines vary by policy wording. For permanent disability, claim, medical confirmation and reassessment deadlines can be decisive.

Do I need an accident pension?

That depends on the protection goal. Capital and pension serve different financial purposes and should be assessed together.

What should I document after an accident?

Record the event, first treatment, diagnoses, medical reports, therapies and subsequent development.
